Lifestyle Sundays // How to have a productive weekend morning

May 27, 2018

Hello friends and welcome to my first ever Lifestyle Sundays post! I've been wanting to expand my blogging horizons for a little while now and I'm super excited to start sharing more of myself here on my little piece of the internet :)

So... as you can tell by the title, today's post will be on how to have a productive weekend morning. I love being lazy in the morning just as much as the next gal but, sometimes, you just need to get stuff done. I find that when I start getting daily goals accomplished before noon I'm 10000% more likely to be productive throughout the rest of the day.
Also, for those that don't know, I'm a student so getting tasks accomplished on the weekend is key for me. I'm someone who operates better when I'm able to manage my own time.

If you're someone who struggles with productivity on the weekends then have no fear! In this post I'll be taking you through some of the things I do to increase my productivity.

Without any further ado, let's get into it!

You'd be surprised by how much of an effect your sleep schedule has on you. I actually didn't realize that, until I read an article on it recently, sleeping 12 hours a night on the weekend to make up for the 6 hours of sleep a night you were getting during the rest of the week, is bad.
I always thought I was making up for sleep debt while, in reality, I was just oversleeping xD

So... Make sure you're not sleeping hours upon hours later than you usually would. If you wake up at five during the week then try to wake up at eight on the weekends. You're still getting much needed rest but you're also not overcompensating for sleep missed during the week.

I also find that, the more stuff I get done before noon, the more accomplished I'll feel. It's really hard to get stuff done before noon if you wake up at eleven...

A really good way to establish your goals is to write them down in a planner/notebook. I personally love checklists because I can see that I'm actively making progress, even if I don't feel like I am. Once you're aware of what you need to get done, it's time to...

Now that you know what you need to get done, it's time to move, move, MOVE! Don't procrastinate, don't start thinking about how daunting your tasks are, just start your tasks.

Tip: Start with the hardest task. If you're like me, you'll tell yourself that you'll start it ASAP after you finish *insert procrastinator excuse* but then you'll push it off until it's nighttime. Bad idea, my friends! You'll be a gazillion times happier if you just get it over with. (Trust me.)

*Peep my current read 👀

Throughout the entirety of the morning it's SO important for you to stay hydrated. I highly recommend keeping a glass/bottle of water next to your bed so you can immediately take a drink when you wake up. If you're super lazy, like myself, and you don't want to keep refilling a glass, then I recommend getting a large bottle to carry around the house with you. That way, you have no excuse to not drink water.
I personally carry around a 40 oz Takeya water bottle. It keeps your water super cold and is AmAZing if you're someone who likes going to the beach but hates when your water gets lukewarm. (That was slightly off topic but summer's almost here and I wanted to share xD).

Breakfast is also important for productivity. Try to eat a meal that will energize you, not a meal that will slow you down *COUGH* anything that's packaged, like pop tarts *COUGH*

If you need some breakfast ideas, I highly recommend checking out Liezl Jayne Strydom on Youtube! She has some really delicious breakfast ideas if you're wanting to try to eat healthy in the morning.

I really love this sweet potato breakfast from her, which you can find here! (The how-to is from :55 to 3:43)

... and that wraps up my first Lifestyle Sundays post!

I really like how this post turned out and I'm hoping y'all do too :)

Would you consider yourself to be productive on the weekends?
Thank you for reading and have a magical day!
